Day 3 in Wallingford. Did my walk this morning with a bit more confidence as I was able to use my new iPad app MAPS to see the street names in the village and where they hook up. Very useful.
Also yesterday I ate my first scotch egg. Jerry this not an egg marinated in single malt. You might remember thT we saw these on a cooking show recently. It is a hard boiled egg wrapped? in a sausage meAt mixture and then rolled in bred crumbs and fried. I was excited to find them on the lunch menu at the Centre of ecology and hydrology where our meeting is being held. They were served with cabbage on the side, just my style of thing.
The hotel we aRe staying in is one of the oldest buildings in the village and has always been a hotel. I am in the older section of the hotel and my room is very quaint but also has a floor that goes down hill from one side of the room to the other. The bathroom is down a Small flight of stairs! Suspect although the room itself is probBly original the toilet is a more recent addition.
Although the village is small, it has a lot of restaurants covering an amazing rnge of food cultures. 2 Italians, two Chinese, 2indian and than many others. Last night we chose one of the Italian ones.
Our meeting went right to 5.30 yesterday but today we re finishing at 4 and then getting on a bus for a visit to Oxford where we will be having dinner tonight. So I will have more to share tomorrow.
